Vegas PBS recently held the 2024 Be My Neighbor Day event at Downtown Summerlin on October 5. The event aimed to promote being a caring neighbor and collecting socks for CCSD’s Title I HOPE program. This free outdoor event featured family-friendly activities and appearances by PBS KIDS’ characters Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, an Emmy-winning animated preschool program, was inspired by the iconic Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. The show models social-emotional strategies and practical life skills for young children, with 4-year-old Daniel Tiger offering a kid’s-eye view of his world.

Vegas PBS President and General Manager Mare Mazur expressed excitement for the event, highlighting the importance of families having fun while learning about being caring neighbors. During the event, Vegas PBS collected new pairs of kids’ socks to benefit CCSD’s Title I HOPE program. Donors received a Vegas PBS goodie bag as a token of appreciation.

The event was made possible thanks to the support of the local community and Presenting Sponsors Howard Hughes and PNC Bank. Vendor booths and sponsorship opportunities were available for those interested in participating.
