Sammy Hagar, the iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, was recently honored with the Key to the Las Vegas Strip in celebration of the 15-year anniversary of Cabo Wabo Cantina. The presentation took place on the restaurant’s Strip-side patio, with Clark County Commissioner James Gibson doing the honors.

The event was attended by hundreds of dedicated fans known as “Redheads,” who showed their support with thunderous applause. Hagar’s impact on Las Vegas goes beyond just his successful restaurant. He has donated over $650,000 to local non-profits through The Hagar Family Foundation, showcasing his commitment to the community.

During the celebration, Cabo Wabo Cantina hosted a special event for Hagar’s fans, offering them a chance to enjoy exclusive cocktails made with Hagar’s own spirits, including Santo Tequila, Beach Bar Rum, and Red Rocker Lager. The crowd favorites included the Santo Margarita and the signature CW Mai Tai, giving fans a taste of Hagar’s unique creations.

Following the ceremony, Hagar went on to perform two sold-out shows at Palms Casino Resort to celebrate his 77th “Birthday Bash.” Throughout his five-decade career, Hagar has achieved great success as a lead singer and songwriter, with 25 Platinum albums and sales exceeding 50 million worldwide.

Cabo Wabo Cantina, known for its coastal Mexican cuisine and extensive tequila selection, was awarded “Best Tequila Selection” in the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas.” The restaurant offers a range of dishes, including Sammy’s tequila shrimp and short rib enchiladas, paired with exceptional cocktails made with Hagar’s spirits.

Sammy Hagar’s journey in the music industry has been nothing short of remarkable, from his early days with Montrose to his time with Van Halen and his current supergroup, The Circle. His contributions to rock music have earned him a Grammy Award, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In addition to his music career, Hagar has built a thriving lifestyle brand, including restaurants and spirits. He launched Cabo Wabo Tequila in 1996, which became the #2 ultra-premium tequila brand in the US before he sold it in 2010. Hagar’s portfolio now includes Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, Santo Spirits, Sammy’s canned cocktails, and Red Rocker Brewing Co.

Hagar’s restaurant portfolio includes Cabo Wabo Cantinas in Cabo San Lucas and Las Vegas, as well as Sammy’s Beach Bar and Grills in various locations. Earlier this year, Palms Casino Resort opened Sammy’s Island, a pool inspired by Hagar’s music and beach vibe. Additionally, the historic theater in his hometown of Fontana, California was renamed Stage Red Theater in his honor, showcasing his lasting legacy in the music industry.
