A man named David Brooks, who is 59 years old, is currently in critical condition after a serious accident in East Las Vegas. The incident took place at the intersection of Nellis Boulevard and Mt. Rushmore Parkway late on Tuesday night. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Brooks was riding his bicycle against the flow of traffic, going north in the southbound lanes of Nellis Blvd.

As Brooks reached Mt. Rushmore Parkway, he crossed over the raised center median and rode directly into the path of an oncoming Dodge Dakota. The Dakota ended up striking Brooks’ rear tire, causing him to be thrown into the southbound lanes of Nellis Blvd. At that point, a Chrysler 300C Touring also hit him.

The driver of the Dodge Dakota, Anthony Tate, who is 44 years old, displayed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence (DUI). He was then taken to the Clark County Detention Center. The driver of the Chrysler was not cited, but the case is still being investigated by the Las Vegas police.

This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following traffic rules and regulations, especially when it comes to the safety of pedestrians and cyclists on the road. It is crucial for all road users to be vigilant and responsible to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has any information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. The authorities are working diligently to gather all the necessary details to determine the cause of the collision and ensure that justice is served.

Our thoughts are with David Brooks and his loved ones during this difficult time. We hope for his speedy recovery and urge everyone to prioritize safety and caution while traveling on the roads. Let us all work together to create a safer environment for everyone in our community.
