Taylor Montgomery, a former golfer from Foothill High and UNLV, is gearing up to compete in the Shriners Children’s Open, which is held in his hometown. Despite the advantages of being able to sleep in his own bed and having the support of friends and family in the gallery, Montgomery has been facing challenges on the course recently.

During his PGA Tour season, Montgomery struggled with injuries after tearing muscles in both shoulders. This resulted in multiple missed cuts and withdrawals, leaving him at No. 128 in the FedEx Cup Fall standings. However, Montgomery remains optimistic and focused on playing good golf to improve his ranking.

One of Montgomery’s main issues on the course stems from his backswing, which has been causing inconsistencies in his shots. Despite being a strong putter, he has been struggling with strokes gained off the tee and total driving efficiency. Montgomery is working on refining his full swing to achieve more consistency in his game.

Despite these challenges, Montgomery is not feeling pressured or nervous about competing in his third appearance at the Shriners Children’s Open. He previously finished tied for 15th and tied for 35th in the tournament in previous years. Montgomery is set to tee off at 8:23 a.m. on Thursday alongside Matti Schmid and David Skinns.

In other news, Emiliano Grillo, a two-time PGA Tour winner, withdrew from the event, allowing first alternate Nicholas Lindheim to take his place in the field. Lindheim will tee off at 12:51 p.m. with Adam Schenk and Kevin Kisner.

The Shriners Children’s Open will take place from Thursday to Sunday at TPC Summerlin, with daily coverage on Golf Channel from 2-5 p.m. Tom Kim is currently the favorite to win the tournament at 15-1 odds.

As the tournament kicks off, golf enthusiasts can look forward to exciting matchups, including notable players like Ryan Moore, Patrick Fishburn, Charley Hoffman, Luke List, and Daniel Berger, among others. The competition promises to showcase top talent and thrilling moments on the course.
