Alright, so we had some high school sports action on Thursday, and let me tell you—it was wild. Ethan Clauss from Palo Verde, that senior dude, he totally crushed it, going 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and an RBI. The Panthers showed Bishop Alemany who’s boss with a 13-1 win. Ryland Gregorich over at Clark, a freshman, mind you, struck out seven in a no-hitter to help the Chargers destroy Cheyenne 11-0. Edwin Moreno, another freshman, was the hero at Western, pitching a gem and going 3-for-3 with a homer to lead the Warriors to a 17-3 victory over Cimarron-Memorial. William Patriquin, a senior from Rancho, struck out six in a no-hitter against Valley, winning 20-0. Marek Piekarski from Silverado, that junior, caught all nine innings and went 4-for-5 with an RBI to help the Skyhawks take down Sierra Vista 9-5. And then there’s Dallas Sirikhan from Bonanza, the senior pitcher who threw a no-hitter and watched his team score 11 runs in the first inning for a 17-0 win over Desert Pines.

Now, onto the softball action. Madison Foster from Shadow Ridge, that senior, hit a double, a triple, and three RBIs to help the Mustangs come back and beat Liberty 9-5. Breya Hee from Arbor View, another senior, crushed it going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the Aggies dominated Green Valley 14-3. Charlie Simi from Bishop Gorman, a sophomore, went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs, leading the Gaels to a 20-0 three-inning win over Silverado. Hailey Smith, the junior from Centennial, went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, but still ended up losing to Palo Verde 8-3.

Boys volleyball was intense too. JaMari Cottingham from Basic, a senior, had 10 kills and three blocks to help the Wolves beat Bishop Gorman 25-20, 29-27, 25-19. Jack Cox, a junior from Durango, finished with 18 kills, 12 digs, and a block in a victory over Sunrise Mountain. David Haldeman from Arbor View, a senior, racked up 46 assists, 11 digs, a kill, and a block to lead the Aggies past Foothill. And Michael Weinand from Bonanza, the junior, had 16 kills, two digs, and two aces in a 25-13, 25-21, 25-21 win over Doral Academy.

Scores were all over the place, but let’s just say Thursday was a day full of surprises and epic moments on the field.
