Touchstone Living’s Independence community in East Las Vegas has unveiled a new 6-acre park, Independence Park, for its residents. This park offers resort-style amenities, including two pools, picnic facilities, large grassy areas, and more. Located off Vegas Valley Drive near Hollywood Boulevard, Independence is the state’s largest planned community focused on making homeownership affordable.

Independence Park spans nearly 6 acres, roughly the size of four football fields, and boasts an 86,000-plus gallon pool surrounded by lounge chairs, shade structures, restrooms, and shower facilities. During a ribbon-cutting event, Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, a strong advocate for affordable housing, dedicated Independence Park. Segerblom expressed his gratitude for the development of Independence in East Las Vegas, citing the community’s contribution to addressing the need for affordable housing in the area. “Independence is helping to fill that need, and having a beautiful park like Independence Park is just one more reason for homeowners to feel proud of living here,” he said.
Recognizing Community Heroes
As part of the park dedication ceremony, Touchstone Living’s East Las Vegas Community Heroes Campaign winners and nominees were honored. Thirteen residents were nominated for their efforts to uplift and celebrate the people of East Las Vegas, with Vanessa Barreat and Raúl Martínez emerging as first-place winners. Alex Bernal and Beatriz Rubio were named second and third place winners, respectively. The top three winners received cash awards donated to their favorite nonprofit organizations, and top vote-getters Barreat and Martínez will have pavilions at Independence Park named in their honor.

Independence, which broke ground in May 2022 and began construction in November 2023, is situated on approximately 162 acres of the former Royal Links Golf Course. The community features 14 unique floor plans within four townhome collections, offering Energy Star-certified Samsung appliances, solar panels, upgraded countertops, window coverings, ring doorbells, and no closing costs as part of the home price.
