Nevada State Bar President Appointed, Driving Change in Legal Industry

Richard Dreitzer, a commercial litigator and labor and employment specialist, has been sworn in as the standing president of the State Bar of Nevada. Dreitzer, who is a director and managing partner for Fennemore’s Las Vegas office and a member of the firm’s management committee, has been a member of the State Bar of Nevada since 1998. He has also served on the State Bar of Nevada’s Board of Governors since 2013 and previously held the position of president-elect. With over two decades of experience in business litigation, Dreitzer’s focus areas include labor and employment law, administrative law, and general commercial litigation, including construction.

Dreitzer’s dedication to excellence and the legal profession has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for five consecutive years under their Employment Law Management and Litigation-Labor and Employment categories. James Goodnow, CEO of Fennemore, commended Dreitzer’s leadership and vision, noting that they will benefit both the members of the State Bar and the community. In addition to his role at the Bar Association, Dreitzer serves as vice chair of Nevada Public Radio and on the Advisory Council for The Mob Museum in downtown Las Vegas. He holds a B.S. from Cornell University and a J.D. from Washington University School of Law.

Founded in 1928, the State Bar of Nevada operates under the supervision of the Nevada Supreme Court. The bar regulates attorneys in the state, provides education and development programs for the legal profession and the public, and aims to govern the legal profession, serve its members, and protect the public interest.

The Rogers Foundation recently appointed Janae Downey as chief financial officer. A certified public accountant with a background in accounting and financial leadership, Downey brings valuable experience to the foundation. Downey, who consulted for The Rogers Foundation since November 2019, will now oversee the organization’s financial health and strategic planning, as well as administer programs such as awarding annual college scholarships.

Working alongside CEO Rory Reid and Chairman of the Board Beverly Rogers, Downey will play a crucial role in the foundation’s mission of supporting educational and artistic initiatives in Southern Nevada. With a Master of Science in accounting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Brigham Young University, Downey has a strong foundation in financial management. Before joining The Rogers Foundation, she worked at Marrs Bergquist CPAs, Layton, Layton & Tobler LLP CPAs, and Arthur Andersen, gaining experience in tax return preparation, financial statements, and audit procedures.

The Rogers Foundation, established in 2013, is a major charitable organization in Nevada that supports arts and education initiatives. Through scholarships, educational reform efforts, and partnerships with organizations like Educate Nevada Now and CORE, the foundation aims to transform lives through its philanthropic endeavors. Additionally, the foundation sponsors the annual Heart of Education Awards and supports institutions like Nevada State College and Black Mountain Institute.

The Collaboration Center, Las Vegas’ largest disability resource network, appointed co-founder Cindy Goussak as executive director to lead the organization’s mission of providing equitable access to essential services and support systems for individuals with disabilities. The center, founded in 2019, has impacted thousands of families through case management, community outreach, and inclusion programs, offering referrals and access to services for those with intellectual, developmental, physical, and learning disabilities.

Through its Pathways program, the Collaboration Center streamlines access to a range of services and support systems, including therapies, education, vocational training, and community groups. By providing a centralized hub for disability services and partnering with organizations like the Children’s Heart Foundation and Boy’s Town Nevada, the center ensures that individuals and families in the Southern Nevada disability community receive tailored support and resources. In addition to case management, the center offers support groups, family inclusion programming, and vocational training to enhance independence and quality of life for individuals with disabilities.

Situated on a 5-acre campus in Southwest Las Vegas, the Collaboration Center occupies the former Las Vegas Ranch and serves as a comprehensive resource center for individuals with disabilities and their families. With on-site providers, agencies, and nonprofit organizations, the center offers diverse health care, educational, and supportive services in one centralized location, including an ADA playground, community meeting rooms, and a meditation garden.
